Supernatural Studies Conference 2020: “Phantoms of Progress in Gilman’s Supernatural Fantasies”

I was slated to present at this year’s Supernatural Studies conference back in March at Iona College. Wickedly, COVID-19 put a stop to that, but the conference organizers have assembled a quasi-Proceedings of the Conference-That-Wasn’t for the summer 2020 edition of the Supernatural Studies journal, and it happens to include the full text of the paper I was to present. It’s an examination of the intersections between Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s non-fiction writing and her few supernatural stories with titles other than “The Yellow Wallpaper.” Check it out at the link above, if you dare!

Full text of “When I Was a Witch”

Partial text of “If I Were a Man”
